
President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. expressed his sorrow over the passing of Gloria Romero, a legendary figure of Philippine cinema, who passed away at the age of 91.
Marcos described Romero as 'one of the great icons of Philippine cinema,' expressing his admiration for her as an actress and a personality. 'I first met Gloria Romero on the set of the film 'Iginuhit ng Tadhana', and from that moment on I became her fan,' Marcos recalled. 'She was always a magnificent lady with the achievement of a true star.'
Romero, whose illustrious career spanned more than 70 years, won multiple awards for her performances in films such as 'Magnifico', 'Tanging Yaman', and 'Rainbow’s Sunset'. She was also known for her appearances on various television shows.
The ceremony took place at the Memorial Chapel Arlington in Quezon City, where colleagues honored her legacy. Marcos concluded his statement by saying, 'The world of Philippine cinema and the entire world of showbiz will never forget her.'
